Mao's second verse was killer.

You're both winners, but Teq is more of a winner, just better all around: flow, lyrics, mic quality.

Props guys. Great lyrics, great flow. Props to Rama, too, for that funkalicious beat.

Teqneek responds:

Thanks homie! Rama is a beast, isn't he? But so are you so it's all good.

This reminded me very much of Michael Giacchino's score to Up (amazing soundtrack to an incredible film, in case you haven't seen it). This track was not-quite-pop, not-quite-jazz, and not-quite-cinematic... it sounded like one of those fun compositions from the post-romantic / mid-impressionistic period.

BlazingDragon responds:

I LOVE the score to Up! That comparison makes me oh so very happy. <3

As far as genre, I tried to be cinematic with my orchestration, yet "pop-like" with my melodic material. At the same time, I tried to use some jazzy chord progressions (a bit of a lydian feel here and there, lots of borrowed chords, chromatic bass lines, etc). I have no idea what to label it, so I'll stick with yours.

Thanks for the review! :D

I absolutely love the section from 0:41 to 0:54. Very cool syncopated rhythms there, and the theme is really cool. Heck, if you'd written that and then done a couple of variations or - more fitting for jazz - given different instruments some solos over a base rhythm section keeping that established groove, that would have been pretty awesome to listen to.

camoshark responds:

Thanks, man, glad you enjoyed!

The segment you loved was actually the actual song, but due to time constraints I had to cut short and leave it so. I'm actually planning on recording this and adding solos, so I'll send you a PM when it's done!

Cheers,
Samuel Hebert

NO! I'm not supposed to like dubstep! Popular music isn't supposed to be innovative! What have you done!?

You get docked 0.3 points because your track cuts out without a reverb tail, and that makes me sad.

GrantBowtie responds:

Woah, I consider this a really great review especially if you hate dubstep! Ya I've used the reverb tail a lot and sometimes I get tired of it

There are very few things that can make me cry: I'm a manly man, goddammit. The ending of Red Dead Redemption is one of them; Mozart's Requiem is another; and the last 45 seconds of this is the third one.

Sublime work, really.

BlazingDragon responds:

I can't believe my music was just put in the same paragraph as Mozart's requiem. :p

Thank you!

This would fit perfectly in a puzzle game; it would work pretty well for the "building defenses" between waves in a Tower Defense game; or, if you softened everything up a bit and delayed the attack of the pitched percussion (to eliminate the hard hits), I reckon it could work well in an exploratory RPG (like Skyrim).

I love your use of dissonance; the string melodies are particularly noteworthy in how they create an almost Discovery Channel-like sense of wonder. The brass stabs could use a bit of work (maybe a little more reverb, maybe layered with some more instruments) as they sound less realistic when they're compared to the harpsichord, pitched and unpitched percussion, and strings playing behind them.

BenTibbetts responds:

Thanks very much!

This diss track is so on-point it's unreal. The references to recent events, his style, his look, and his ragtag 'crew' are great.

This is a really, really relaxing beat, Rama. Do you mind if I record over it? (I promise the lyrics will be better than my usual tracks!)

Crueltool responds:

Yeaahh!! Keep record man, and send the link after))
good luck
